Paddleboarding is a surface water sport in which the participant is propelled by a swimming motion usually on a long surfboard close to the shore. A derivative of paddleboarding is stand up paddle surfing.

Stand Up Paddle surfing, or SUPping, is a surface water sport, a variant of surfing where the surfer uses a paddle to move through the water while standing on a big surfboard. SUPping is derived from its Polynesian roots. The Hawaiian translation is Ku Hoe He’e Nalu; to stand, to padle, to surf, a wave.

An outrigger is a part of a boat’s rigging which is rigid and extends beyond the side or gunwale of a boat.

A surf ski is a long, narrow, lightweight kayak with an open (sit-on-top) cockpit, usually with a foot pedal controlled rudder.
